LASIK

Let’s be honest, wearing glasses and contacts can be a pain. Especially when you get up in the middle of the night for a glass of water, or need to let your dog outside.

Cataract

When the lens inside the eye becomes cloudy (less transparent), it’s called a cataract. Light can’t pass through as clearly, which causes your vision to be dull and blurred. Cataracts can develop at any age but are typically a normal part of the aging process.

PRK

At Brazos Eye, we’re not just a LASIK practice. That’s why we offer other surgical techniques such as Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK) for those who may not be good LASIK candidates.

About Us

Vision correction for all ages

At Brazos Eye Surgery of Texas, our goal is to give patients the best option for surgical vision correction based on their age, expectations, visual exam, and patient goals. That’s why we offer multiple options such as LASIK (laser vision correction), Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) and so much more. During your initial consultation, our doctors will discuss which vision correction option is best for you.

For patients in this age range, LASIK is usually the best option for them. LASIK (Laser In-Situ Keratomileusis) is a medical procedure that corrects the irregularities of your cornea that cause near and farsightedness. Most patients that have LASIK at our practice reduce or eliminate their need for contact lenses and glasses and most can see 20/20 or better!

Patients in this age range usually benefit from Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE). Refractive Lens Exchange is a safe and effective procedure for many patients who have been told that they are not a good candidate for LASIK, PRK, or over the age of 45. This procedure allows most patients to do the things they enjoy, the majority of the time, without glasses or contact lenses.

In most instances, the best surgical vision correction option for individuals who are 65+ is refractive lens surgery or cataract surgery with Premium Intraocular Lens Implants (IOLs). This procedure may allow patients to see clearly at all distances, with little or no dependence on glasses.
