LENSAR Laser System

The eye surgeons at Brazos Eye Surgery of Texas are proud to offer the next generation of laser cataract surgery to their patients. The LENSAR Laser System uses Proprietary Augmented Reality, which is the foundation of the system. This enhanced precision gives your Waco eye surgeon better accuracy and predictability while reducing the potential for complications.

PRK

PRK is an alternative treatment for patients whose cornea may be too thin or irregular for LASIK. PRK does not involve the creation of a corneal flap. In PRK, the outer layer of the cornea (the epithelium) is removed. Once this is accomplished, the excimer laser is used to reshape the deeper layers of the cornea, thereby correcting the patient’s refractive errors. The epithelium in most cases will then grow back in three to five days.

Dry Eye

Dry Eye

Dry Eye Disease (DED), is one of the most common reasons why a patient comes into our Waco eye practice. Dry Eye can affect a person’s quality of life and ability to perform everyday functions such as driving a car and using a computer. Dry Eye is a disease and the doctors at Brazos Eye Surgery of Texas have advanced technology, diagnostic equipment and treatments that are ready to meet the needs of patients who have not been able to find relief.

Glaucoma

Glaucoma is the second-leading cause of blindness in the world. It can develop at any age, but after the age of 35, your chance of developing this eye condition drastically increases. Early detection and treatment by your Waco eye doctor is key and can prevent loss of sight. A patient with early glaucoma will not notice any change to their vision; as a result, is often unaware of initial vision loss. Subsequently, blind spots can develop in a patient’s peripheral vision. If left untreated, glaucoma can lead to complete blindness.

 Age-Related Macular Degeneration

Age-Related Macular Degeneration, also known as AMD, is the leading cause of vision loss in adults over the age of 60. In addition, AMD, is the leading cause of blindness in the United States, causing more people to completely lose their vision than cataracts and glaucoma, combined. There are two types of age-related macular degeneration – dry AMD and wet AMD. While there is no “cure” for AMD, with early intervention and treatment, your vision loss can be significantly reduced.

Diabetic Eye Care

The goal of diabetic eye care is to PREVENT vision loss before it occurs. Although you might be seeing well, it is not uncommon to have a vision-threatening problem with your retina. Diabetic retinopathy is the most common eye disease among diabetics. It is also the leading cause of blindness in American adults. This disease occurs when blood vessels in the retina are damaged. You should have your eyes examined if it has been more than one year since your last exam, even if you are seeing well.

Astigmatism

Astigmatism is a refractive error that is an uneven curvature of the eye’s cornea or lens, which causes blurry vision at any distance. Patients diagnosed with astigmatism can also be diagnosed with myopia, also known as nearsightedness, and hyperopia (farsightedness). A routine eye exam can determine if your blurred vision is caused by astigmatism.
